I needed a front bike light, having looked around at a few I decided it needed - to be very bright - and easy to remove from the bike - but not going to cost me lots of money
About 15 years ago me old Dad had got together all the ingredients for the perfect bike lights; 12v Dichroic Halogen bulb, high capacity 12v battery pack and best of all an electronic brightness control using a pulse width modulation circuit. They worked very well, but were mounted to the handlebars using a large bulky aluminium frame. It was completely unsitable for use on a city bike. I needed another way to house and mount the light on my bike. I found this webpage by David Hembrow which sorted all the problems. This is what it looks like;
